Move Over Styrofoam!
The Taste. The Brand. The Ingredient. The Packaging - For Better Planet
These were the three pillars of how Noodelist was going to reinvent the traditional instant noodles. Doing our best in making Better-For-You and Better-For-the-Planet instant noodle 2.0.
We have talked about the taste and the story behind the brand before but we haven’t shared our behind the scene stories on our packaging and our effort on being a sustainable company.
Coming from Finland - the land of endless forests. We knew there are biodegradable materials available. But what we didn’t know was - the raw paper material’s shelf life is only one year. Another challenge was that there weren't too many machineries that made customized shapes for small quantities. We will keep researching to find more eco-friendly alternatives as we go. Here are our current packaging materials and partners.
Noodelist 4-Pack Black Boxes
Are recyclable and the materials are FSC certified which is considered the "gold standard" designation for wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.
Our partner is Oliver, Inc., a U.S based in Oklahoma. The company is using only responsibly sourced materials, and maximizing opportunities for recovery, recycling, or reuse. Oliver is also certified EPA Green Power Partner.
Noodelist 1-Pack Sleeves
We get our sleeves for the single packs from local, family owned company, American Printing & Copy based in Menlo Park, California. They use soy-based inks, low VOC pressroom chemicals and recycled paper, lessening the impact on the environment by avoiding toxic byproducts. Everything that can be recycled is recycled. They are also Bay Area Green Business certified.
The Soup Base Foil
The soup base silver packet foil is currently not as sustainable as we want it to be. But we are constantly looking for a more sustainable version that will also protect the soup base powder from light and temperature changes and keep it as shelf-stable as long as possible.
Fulfillment Partner
Our 3rd party fulfillment partner is locally based GrowthJet. We love that they are based near Noodelist's office in the Bay Area, and they are a Climate Neutral Certified.
Corrugated Boxes
The boxes we use for shipping are from Paper Mart, a family owned company based in Orange, California.
When you buy Noodelist products:
- The Moroheiya noodles are from Thailand since we do not compromise in the noodle texture
- The soup base is mixed and co-pack in the USA
